Symi Visitor Elandess

Symi Island welcomes one of the first Superyachts for the 2009 spring
season: the Elandess.

April 30, 2009: This week, Elandess owners selected Symi as a port of
call where it gracefully took up anchorage just below The Symi Visitor
office, (from where this photo was taken). The Superyacht Elandess is
new to the sea, since it was only launched in August 2008.

But this sleek looking vessel has quietly caught the eye of the
international yachting world, and its notoriety may change: In just a
few weeks' time, Elandess will know whether it will be awarded the
coveted title of Best Displacement Motor Yacht of below 500gt (approx
30m - 49m). The World Superyacht awards are being held on Saturday May
16th 2009, at Guildhall in London.

Apparently, after receiving a record number of nominations this year,
Boat International Media's team of experienced editors has been faced
with the difficult task of selecting the very best builds of 2008 from
an impressive list of entries. Elandess is one of nine yachts competing
for the title of Best Displacement Motor Yacht below 500gt (approx 30m -
49m).

Elandess was built by Heesen Yachts which was established in 1978, when
founder Frans Heesen purchased an existing shipyard in Oss harbour, in
the Netherlands, and decided to take over its operations. Over the last
thirty years, Heesen has emerged as one of the world's leading builders
of luxury super-fast yachts, and introduced a new series of 40 metre
semi-custom yachts, the "4000 series" in October 2008.
